As the first major implementation of the USPS EPM service within an application, the USPS EPM Extension for Microsoft Office software is available as a downloadable add-in to Microsoft Office XP and 2003.
This application allows users to digitally sign Word documents and seal them with the trusted USPS Electronic Postmark. Just click the blue eagle in the Microsoft Word toolbar, apply a USPS EPM to your document (contract, letter, agreement) and sign. This gives your document tamper protection against fraud and the ability to verify document authenticity online. Transaction records for postmarked Word documents are stored in the USPS EPM repository for seven years, providing third party evidence to support non-repudiation of content.
Now, instead of users creating Word documents that must be converted to paper to be printed, signed and sent, they can keep Word documents in their native electronic form and simply digitally sign, postmark and email. Imagine the time, cost and energy saved!
