IMAGEVIEW is a document management system that runs on the IBM AS/400 and enables you, without the need for any additional programming, to integrate documents from a variety of sources such that you can access and display these documents whilst working with your application.
Because we do rarely access our line-of-business applications in isolation, we nearly always need to look at documents of all kinds - real paper images - at the same time.
IMAGEVIEW is a document management system that has been designed to give you simple access to these many sources of information directly from within your application.

Instant Access to any Document
Without reprogramming or changes to the software running on your AS/400, IMAGEVIEW lets you link scanned documents such as letters, forms, drawings and photographs, faxes, PC word processing, computer generated (spoolfile) reports and even emails to the data in your applications.
Simple to Use
You can simply link IMAGEVIEW to your line-of-business applications using a pioneering application integration technique that takes literally a matter of minutes. You simply define the screens or data displays in your application from which you want to show or attach documents and IMAGEVIEW will automatically find the link between whats shown on the workstation screen and the related image document or report. This means you can simply access, for example, a sales invoice and its associated POD from the application screen to which they relate. Anyone in the organisation using the AS/400 from a PC can, if they have the appropriate authorisation, see these images and documents, or add more to the collection.
Your Filing done Automatically
IMAGEVIEW eliminates the main problem associated with traditional document imaging systems - that of indexing. IMAGEVIEW itself determines how to index an image by reading the data displayed on the AS/400 workstation screen and selecting the relevant data field (the customer name or number perhaps) or by setting up the relevant index when scanning the documents in. There are many automatic indexing and data capture techniques available including OCR, ICR, OMR and bar coding.
IMAGEVIEW stores all documents and images just once, but lets you and your colleagues have simultaneous access to them. |
